Barrow winger Simon Wiles aims to repay bosses' faith

New Barrow signing Simon Wiles is determined to repay the faith of joint managers Dave Bayliss and Darren Sheridan in bringing him to the club.

Wiles, 24, joined the Bluebirds last week, having been released by Scottish side Dunfermline after a knee injury.

But the Preston-born winger is keen to prove his fitness at Holker Street and told BBC Radio Cumbria: "I just want to get back playing now.

"I want to repay the managers with some good performances on the pitch."

Wiles, who becomes the club's first permanent signing of the January transfer window, will offer cover for the wide positions which have seen Marc Goodfellow, Craig Nelthorpe and Neil Wainwright brought in on loan deals already this season.

If I can impress the managers during the next six months then who knows and hopefully I'll get signed on for next season

And the former Blackpool and Macclesfield man sees his move as a chance to regenerate his career after his injury setback.

"I just want to get back playing," he said. "And, if I can impress the managers during the next six months, hopefully I'll get signed on for next season.

"I've signed until the end of the season so hopefully there'll be a few good performances from myself.

"I'm a direct winger. I love getting at my full-back and trying to get balls into the box and providing for the strikers."
