Barrow to decide players' futures

Blue Square Premier side Barrow will attempt to resolve the immediate futures of striker David Brown and on-loan goalkeeper Alan Martin this week.

Brown joined the club on non-contract terms last week while Martin is approaching the end of his one-month loan deal from Leeds United.

"We'll speak to David to see what the situation is with him," joint-manager Dave Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"If we can't keep Alan for longer then we will bring Tim Deasy back in."

Brown began his career as a trainee at Old Trafford before moving to Hull City, where he made over 100 first-team appearances.

After spells at Torquay, Chester, Telford and Hereford, he moved to Accrington Stanley in 2005 before his release in the summer.

Martin is third-choice goalkeeper at Elland Road.

Now we've gone 3-5-2 in formation it has made us look more solid and given us a bit more confidence

Barrow boss Dave Bayliss

Both players featured in Tuesday night's 0-0 draw against Burton Albion at Holker Street, a result which kept the Bluebirds 16th in the table.

"We are delighted to have kept a clean sheet," Bayliss said. "We battled really hard against a team with quality all over the pitch."

"We got our formation right and that's something we had to do after recent weeks. You can't knock our lads' effort and we could have even nicked it in the end."

Barrow now face a trip to leaders Crawley Town this weekend but Bayliss believes his team have a new confidence after ending their four-game losing run.

"We want to win every game but if you can't win, then it's about making sure you don't get beat," he said.

"When we lost four in a row we lost our concentration and got ripped apart.

"Now we've gone 3-5-2 in formation it has made us look more solid and given us a bit more confidence."

The Bluebirds are unbeaten in their last two games after last Saturday's 1-0 win at Kidderminster and the draw against Nigel Clough's men.

"We've got a few tired limbs at the moment," Bayliss said.

"It doesn't help that we can see them only a couple of times a week being part-time.

"Maybe in the future we can hopefully go a couple more days a week with the lads but for the time being we have just got to dig in."
