Barnsley have signed Hull City defender Paul McShane on a two-month loan, with the Tigers having the option of recalling him after 28 days.
The Republic of Ireland international, who joined Hull in 2008, comes in as cover for the injured Stephen Foster.
The 27-year-old started his career at Manchester United and won the 2003 FA Youth Cup alongside current Barnsley keeper Luke Steele.
He has also had spells at Walsall, Brighton, West Brom and Sunderland.
McShane has made 19 appearances for Hull this season but struggled to keep hold of a first-team place, and has only started one league game in 2011.
He is in line to make his Tykes debut in Saturday's Championship game against Portsmouth.
