Barnsley captain Steve Foster is set to undergo a hernia operation on Thursday but could be back in action for the Championship club within a fortnight.

The 28-year-old defender missed Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Norwich after being told he needed to go under the knife by a specialist.

Physio Matt Konopinski told the club website: "Stephen will have an operation on his groin on Thursday.

"We are hopeful that he will be back in action in a fortnight."
