Barnsley's Ward bid is accepted

Jamie Ward
Ward's scoring tally has alerted a number of Championship clubs

Chesterfield have accepted an offer of 400,000 from Barnsley for striker Jamie Ward.

The deal is subject to the striker agreeing personal terms with the Championship side.

The 22-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has scored 16 goals already this season alerting him to a number of Championship sides.

He decided not to accept an improved deal with the Spireites after contract negotiations failed last month.

Barnsley need a striker to replace Iain Hume who is out with a fractured skull.

Ward joined Chesterfield from Torquay United in January 2007.
