Ward is out of contract at Saltergate in the summer
Chesterfield top scorer Jamie Ward has rejected a renewed contract offer.
Ward, 22, has scored 12 times this season and has attracted the attention of a number of Championship clubs.
And Spireites manager Lee Richardson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He's been made a good offer and he has turned it down and that's it.
"The fans can think what they want, but what they can rest assured is that it's more likely now that Jamie will remain with us for the rest of the season."
"Come the end of the season it will depend on how Jamie has done as to what will happen to him," said Richardson.
Even if he decides to leave in the club in the summer the Spireites will receive a fee for the Northern Ireland Under-21 international because he is under 24.
