Aston Villa have given their three England under-21 players extra time off as they prepare for the new season.
First-team players Gabriel Agbonlahor, James Milner and Craig Gardner have all been left out of the Villa squad for the Peace Cup in Spain.
They did not finish playing in the European Under-21 Championships until the end of June, and will not be back in training until early next month.
Villa take on co-hosts Malaga in their first group stage game on Saturday.
Martin O'Neill has named left-back Wilfred Bouma in the squad though, despite him missing all of last season with a dislocated ankle.
