Centurion Trott hopes for recall

Warwickshire batsman Jonathan Trott is hoping his form could put him back into frame for an England recall.

South Africa-born Trott has already hit three Championship centuries this season for the Bears.

He was called up to the England team in 2007 on the back of his one-day form, playing in two Twenty20 matches against the West Indies.

England selector Ashley Giles told BBC WM: "He's throwing his hat in the ring every time he gets another hundred."

He added: "Jonathan's record in all competitions last year was as good as anyone's in the country, and he's continuing that form this year," the Warwickshire director of cricket Giles added.

In June, Trott became the highest scorer in a Twenty20 Cup season, as he made 38 to reach 469 runs from 10 innings in 2009. It surpassed the record of 464 set by Somerset captain Justin Langer in 2006.

"I feel like I'm playing well. There are still areas I can work on but hardly ever do you bat perfectly," Trott told BBC WM.

"It's something you've got to keep working at, a continuous improvement."

Despite his individual success, Trott would rather the England selectors picked him on his current form, rather than pushing for a place to the detriment of his county.

"In the past I've perhaps been guilty of trying to get my name pushed forward, rather than focusing completely on playing for Warwickshire.

"Now I try not to think about it, I'd rather focus on Monday's Twenty20 quarter final against Sussex."
