Alpay adamant about leaving Villa

Villa's Alpay Ozalan tackles El Hadji Diouf of Liverpool
Alpay said he played against Liverpool for the manager and players

Alpay has accused Aston Villa of pricing him out of the transfer market.

The 29-year-old Turkey international is still adamant he wants to leave the Midlands club.

He feels Villa have betrayed him after revealing details of his wage demands.

The central defender played against Liverpool in Villa's opening game of the Premiership season but he is desperate to move before the transfer window closes on 31 August.

"Yes, they are pricing me out of the market," Alpay told BBC Sport Online.

"If I am playing football and I am not happy then it will affect my friends and my club. I am not happy and want to go.

"It is up to the management. If they help me then yes [I will go before the transfer window closes]. If it is possible I want to go tomorrow.

"I am sure the club do not want to keep an unhappy player because the performances will not be good from me as I am unhappy."

Alpay arrived at Villa Park for 5.6m from Fenerbahce and, after his showing in the World Cup, is rated around the 7m mark.

He has been linked with a move to Leeds - but says that he was willing to stay at Villa until the club went back on an agreement by letting out details about contract negotiations.

Aston Villa manager Graham Taylor
Alpay is full of praise for Taylor

Alpay believes Villa's actions were designed to turn the fans against him - and he has now given up hope of a reconciliation.

"I didn't ask for a 50% wage increase," he said. "Even if it was a 100% now it is not the subject.

"Everybody will know I didn't cause this because of the money and that I am not the person who caused it.

"The main reason I played [against Liverpool] was for the manager and the supporters.

"After the midweek problems we had it was very difficult for me to play."

Alpay insists he has plenty of respect for Aston Villa boss Graham Taylor and was given a generous reception by fans against Liverpool.

He added: "If they want to turn the supporters against me they [Villa] will have to try harder."

Alpay added that he will now talk to the 'necessary people' about a move when he returns from international duty.
