Phil Edwards joined Accrington after being released by Wigan
Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman has admitted he is delighted with the form shown by defender Phil Edwards.
The 22-year-old, who can play all across the back four, has been an ever-present for Stanley this season.
Coleman told BBC Radio Lancashire: "I couldn't pay him enough compliments. I think the last six months he has been absolutely magnificent.
"I am convinced if he was three inches bigger he would be playing in the Premier League."
He added: "He has a great work ethic both in training and in games and he has improved no end."
He is our best defender and hopefully he'll continue to be a great player for us for a long time

Edwards began his career with Wigan Athletic but was released in 2005 without making a senior appearance.
He will continue in the Stanley team against Wycombe on Saturday despite needing eight stitches in his knee following the 2-1 win over Shrewsbury.
Coleman said: "It was a massive blow to lose him when you are 2-0 up. He is our best defender and hopefully he'll continue to be a great player for us for a long time."
