Accrington struck twice in the opening six minutes to earn their second straight win and upset promotion-chasing Shrewsbury.
Jimmy Ryan's cross was flicked on by Paul Mullin and on-loan striker Terry Gornell fired home after 72 seconds.
John Miles then tricked his way down the left wing and crossed perfectly for Mullin to make it two with a header.
Ben Davies' free-kick hit the crossbar on 13 minutes, but he did manage to convert another after 68 minutes.
