Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee has brushed aside criticism from Falkirk boss Eddie May over the Dons' interest in Bairns captain Darren Barr.
McGhee and Hibs manager John Hughes are both keen to sign the defender, 25, who is out of contract in the summer.
May feels that the duo are being disrespectful to his club by going public with their interest in Barr.
But the Dons boss said: "It wasn't us who brought it into the public domain, so there's no case to answer there."
Last week May was unhappy with attempts to persuade the Scotland international to move to Pittodrie or Easter Road.
"I have a problem when clubs talk about swap deals when they haven't reached agreement with Darren," the Falkirk boss said.
But McGhee is adamant he and Aberdeen have done nothing wrong.
"I was asked because someone at Falkirk apparently told the local reporter that there had been an enquiry or that Darren Barr had been discussed between Falkirk and ourselves."
Barr is free to sign a pre-contract agreement now that he is in the final months of his deal at the Falkirk Stadium.
