Foster is enjoying a run in the Aberdeen team under Mark McGhee
Ricky Foster has signed a new three-and-a-half year contract with Aberdeen.
The 24-year-old defender is now tied to the Dons until 2013, having been out of contract at the end of the season and free to talk to other clubs in January.
Foster told the club website: "My family are all very settled and that made my decision a very simple one.
"It is great to get my future sorted out. I was always determined to stay here and I am really enjoying my football just now."
Foster, who is a product of Aberdeen's youth system, is suspended for Saturday's Scottish Cup fourth-round visit by Hearts.
The former Scotland Under-21 international, with more than 200 appearances for the Reds, made his debut under Steve Paterson in 2003.
Foster, who had fallen out of favour with previous manager Jimmy Calderwood, has been an ever-present under Mark McGhee.
