Foster is aiming for another productive season at Aberdeen

The 22-year-old has become an important figure in manager Jimmy Calderwood's first-team and performed well at left-back last season.

Foster - who hit three goals last term - is now contracted at Pittodrie until the summer of 2010.

"I wanted to get it signed before the start of the new season," Foster told the Aberdeen website.

The former Scotland under-21 international made his Dons debut in 2003 under former boss Steve Paterson.

"I am very pleased with the new deal," Foster added.

"I can now get my head down and concentrate on my football.

"It was really good to get a run in the team so I could show the manager what I could do.

"I know I'm not guaranteed a regular game but hopefully I will play my part in another successful campaign wherever the manager decides to play me."
