Alloa Athletic moved off the foot of the Division One table thanks to a double from Robert Sloan.

Athletic's win was only their third of the season and two of them have come at County's Victoria Park ground.

The Wasps got off to a flyer with both their goals coming in the first nine minutes.

Sloan scored with a tap-in following a Derek Ferguson corner in the fourth minute.

Then the on-loan Hearts player was on target again with a tremendous 25-yard drive that beat County goalkeeper Tony Bullock low to his left.

Sloan almost completed a hat-trick on the half-hour mark, but his shot went just wide.

County's best effort of the first-half came from Marc McCulloch, who forced a fine save from Derek Souter.

Scott Crabbe almost put the game out of reach in the 68th minute when he pounced on a mistake by Bullock only to see his shot hit the crossbar.

Brian Irvine pulled a goal back for County in the 88th minute, when he got on the end of a Don Cowie free-kick.
