Wilde leaves Saints for Fleetwood

Blue Square North club Fleetwood Town have signed The New Saints' long-serving striker Michael Wilde.

Wilde, 25, was plucked from Poulton Victoria seven years ago, and soon established his striking credentials.

He hit 89 Welsh Premier League goals in 135 appearances for the club, and twice won the fans' Player of the Year award.

"The club beat off several Conference clubs to sign him - he's a major part of our exciting plans for the club," said Fleetwood chairman Andy Pilley.

Wilde won three championship medals along with Welsh Cup and League Cup medals with the Saints, and also scored against FK Ventspils in the 3-2 Champions League qualifier victory last season.

He has followed Saints team-mate and centre-half Michael Taylor, who moved to Fleetwood earlier this month.

He is in line to make his Fleetwood debut against AFC Telford on Saturday.
