The New Saints boss Andy Cale believes Alfie Carter's return to fitness has turned up the heat on Llanelli and Rhyl in the League of Wales title race.
"He's a confidence player, and that rubs off on the rest of the team," Cale told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"He had a few injuries early in the season, but he kept working, got himself fit, and his two goals against Connah's Quay last week were fantastic.
"When he's on good form he'll always create chances and score goals."
The Saints are currently third in the League of Wales table, behind last year's champions Llanelli and second-placed Rhyl.
