Blackmore played 15 games for Porthmadog last season |
Former Wales and Manchester United midfielder Clayton Blackmore has been appointed manager of Porthmadog FC. The 42-year-old takes over from Osian Roberts, who has recently become the new technical director at the Football Association of Wales.
Roberts' assistant Viv Williams has also left the club, primarily for personal reasons according to Port.
"Clayton has already impressed us as a Board with his plans for the club," said Port chairman Phil Jones.
"Clayton will inherit a stable squad, the vast majority of whom have already signed for next season and will also receive the Board's support to strengthen it.
"The last thing we wanted was to see Viv and Osian go but the big compensation we have is that Clayton can now take the reins without disruption.
Blackmore, who holds a Uefa A coaching licence, joined Porthmadog as a player in November last year after stepping down as player-manager of Welsh Premier rivals Bangor City.
