A tap-in from substitute Leon Knight was enough to send holders Swansea into the semi-finals of the FAW Premier Cup. Rhyl had the better of the first half at Belle Vue, Andy Moran, Chris Adamson and Lee Hunt all coming close to goals.
The Swans, who fielded a strong unit despite making eight changes from the 1-1 draw at Bradford, sent on recent 125,000 signing Knight after an hour.
The striker pounced in three minutes, profiting as Rhyl keeper Paul Whitfield parried Sam Ricketts' free-kick to him.
The victory was sweet revenge for the visitors, who lost 2-0 at the Lilywhites at the semi-final stage of the same competition two seasons ago.
That match was Kenny Jackett's first game in charge, but it is a very different tale now for the Swans manager, whose side are chasing a trophy treble this season.
