Albert Watson has agreed to stay at Ballymena

Albert Watson has ended speculation about his future by agreeing a new one-year contract with Ballymena United.

The central defender had held talks with Glenavon boss Marty Quinn in January and had stalled over signing a fresh deal at the Showgrounds.

The 24-year-old has spent nine seasons with United.

Meanwhile manager Roy Walker has signed winger Maurice McDowell from Carniny Rangers and the club are also being linked with Sean Friars.

Walker has already added Ryan Brown, Denver Gage, Ryan Berry, Gary McCutcheon and Richard Gibson to his squad.

Steven Ferguson has signed a short-term deal with Newry City, but Kevin Keegan and Ciaran Boyd have been released.

John Curran has become the latest player to agree new terms at Lisburn Distillery.
