Newry awarded cup win arising from Larne brawl clash
Referee Raymond Crangle tries to restore order at Newry Showgrounds
Newry City have been awarded a 2-1 victory from their abandoned JJB Sports Irish Cup clash against Larne following an Irish FA hearing on Monday night.
The Carling Premiership club now go forward to face Loughgall at Lakeview Park in the sixth round on Saturday.
The fifth-round tie was abandoned after 82 minutes on 16 January with Newry leading 2-1 after serious fighting broke out between both sets of players.
Both clubs are still facing a charge of bringing the game into disrepute.
Monday's decision was taken by the IFA's executive board after the commission originally set up to reach a verdict sent the issue back to the governing body.
Both clubs have been invited to forward their observations in writing to the IFA executive board.
The winners of Saturday's sixth-round tie will face Coleraine on 13 March at the Coleraine Showgrounds.
Newry were fined £800 for their part in the brawl and had an appeal against the fine rejected last week.
Larne were fined £1,200 but the club decided not to appeal.
In addition to the fines Larne's Anthony Lagan was banned until 31 May with Robert White and Brian Neeson both suspended for two games and fined £75 each.
Larne manager Paul Millar got a four-game ban and Newry's Cullen Feeney was banned for two games and fined £75.
