Linfield boss David Jeffrey apologised to the team's fans after the 4-0 defeat by Cliftonville on Tuesday night.
"Cliftonville wanted it more than us - I feel ashamed and embarrassed by the second-half performance," he said.
"We did well in the first half but were not at the races in the second half and we have to apologise to the supporters.
"It was not a good performance and I feel desperately let down. We will be back on Wednesday night to have a long, hard look at it."
It was a 100th victory for Eddie Patterson as Cliftonville boss and he was quick to praise his players.
"I couldn't ask for any more from the team and we just carried on from where we left off against Portadown," he said.
"We are getting stronger and the team is gelling well so things are looking good at the minute.
"We are moving in the right direction but this result means nothing if we don't continue to play in the same way."
