Cork City's immediate future has been secured after the club settled its tax liability with the Irish Revenue Commissioners on Wednesday.

The club had an overall tax liability bill of 439,000 Euro.

Cork officials paid 220,000 Euro last Friday and were committed to come up with the remainder by Wednesday.

A statement on the Cork website said that the club had paid the remaining 219,000 Euro before Wednesday's deadline of 1700 BST.

Last week, Ms Justice Mary Laffoy put a stay on a winding up order of the club to allow payment to be made.
