Derry City 3-2 Bohemians

Barry Molloy
Barry Molloy celebrates after scoring Derry's third goal against Bohemians

Derry City are right back in the League of Ireland Premier Division title race after this superb win over leaders Bohemians at a packed Brandywell.

Paul Keegan put Bohs ahead in the first half but goals from Thomas Stewart (50), Mark Farren (54) and Barry Molloy (75) put the Candystripes in control.

Sub Anto Murphy (78) pulled a late goal back for Bohs but Derry held on.

Derry are now only two points off the pace although Cork will go joint-top if they beat St Pat's on Saturday.

Midfielder Keegan gave the visitors the lead with an 18th-minute snap-shot which beat the unsighted Derry keeper Gerard Doherty.

Bohs were good value for their advantage at half-time with Jason McGuinness having snuffed out several Derry attacks.

But Derry were a different team after the interval.

Eddie McCallion's superb run and cross set up ex-Linfield striker Stewart to level five minutes after the break.

Derry were ahead four minutes later with the excellent Kevin Deery setting up Farren to score with a low drive from 18 yards.

Ciaran Martyn was the provider for Derry's third goal on 75 minutes with Molloy, on his 150th appearance for the club, firing in a great finish much to the delight of the vocal home support.

Sub Anto Murphy ensured a nervous finish for Stephen Kenny's side as he blasted home from close range with his first touch of the ball 12 minutes from time.

However, Bohemians didn't really go close to levelling in the closing minutes as Derry boss Kenny celebrated a memorable win over his former club.
