Glenavon are virtually safe from a relegation play-off after beating bottom-placed Dungannon Swifts.

The win takes takes Marty Quinn's men eight points ahead of the Swifts with just three matches left.

Tony Grant was quickest to react for the 27th-minute opener after James Costello's shot came off an upright.

Costello lobbed keeper Alvin Rouse for number two and Timmy Adamson rifled in for Dungannon before Willo McDonagh scored Glenavon's third.

With Newry winning away to Ballymena, Dungannon are now six points adrift at the bottom of the JJB Sports Premiership table.

Glenavon have lost just one of the seven Premiership matches played since Marty Quinn took over as manager.

And goalscorer Grant said things have definitely been improving for the Mourneview Park club.

"There have been big changes since Marty took over and things have turned around dramatically.

"I can see bright things in the future at this club."
