Aidan Watson and Aaron Stewart congratulate Gavin McDonnell
Ballymena secured their third league win in a row with three second-half goals at Clandeboye Park.
David Cushley, Stuart King and Kevin Kelbie went close in the first period while Dominic Melly, Marty Verner and Noel Anderson had chances for Bangor.
Gavin McDonnell scored with a powerful header on 48 minutes and substitute Michael Ward netted 20 minutes later.
Ward grabbed his second five minutes from time, scoring after a good run and cross by strike partner Kevin Kelbie.
Cushley saw his early free-kick well saved by Andrew Plummer and King fired a shot inches wide.
Seasiders forwards Melly and Verner both shot straight at Alan Blayney.
Kelbie had a blistering drive plamed away by Plummer and then Aaron Stewart made a crucial challenge on Anderson as he looked likely to score.
McDonnell broke the deadlock soon after the break from Cushley's right-wing corner but Bangor responded, with Melly being just off-target with a free-kick and Verner going close once again.
Ward's double-salvo ensured that the Sky Blues go level on points with Dungannon at the foot of the table.
