Cliftonville take victory in the County Antrim Shield final by beating Linfield 2-1 at Windsor Park.

Cliftonville lifted the County Antrim Shield for the second time in three years by beating favourites Linfield.

The Reds, hammered 4-0 by the champions in the league nine days earlier, went ahead in the 64th minute when Chris Scannell shot past Stuart Addis.

Francis Murphy made it 2-0 with a 69th-minute penalty after Scannell had been fouled by Johnny Harkness.

Linfield substitute Mark Miskimmin pulled a goal back 11 minutes from time but it was not enough for the Blues.

In the first half, Linfield had the ball in the net when Mark Carvill's cross was deflected in by a Cliftonville defender but it was disallowed for offside.

Mark Holland had a great chance from a Ronan Scannell ball but Addis narrowed the angle and made the block.

Just before the interval, Linfield's Paul Munster was in one-on-one with John Connolly but the Reds keeper came out to make the block.

Late in the game Linfield missed out on an equaliser as Damien Curran headed over from a Billy Joe Burns cross.
