Cliftonville fans threw fireworks onto the pitch at Windsor Park after the final whistle blew.
Linfield player Conor Hagan escaped injury after being struck by a firework at the County Antrim Shield final against Cliftonville at Windsor Park.
The firework was projected from the Cliftonville section in the north stand as fans celebrated immediately after their team's 2-1 win over the Blues.
Club medical staff rushed to the clearly shaken player's aid.
Afterwards Hagan, a former Cliftonville player, said those who let off the fireworks were complete fools.
"I do not know if it was aimed at me or not. I am just glad I was not injured," he said.
"It bounced off my back and the noise shook me more than anything. I was scared."
