Derry City are now without a win in five Eircom Premier League games despite a battling draw in Friday's away clash against Shamrock Rovers.
Padraig Amond put Rovers ahead from the penalty spot on 31 minutes but Conor Sammon's 72nd-minute goal earned the Candystripes a draw at Tolka Park.
The result leaves Derry eight points behind leaders St Pat's who were held to a 0-0 by UCD at Richmond Park.
Derry do move up to third in the table after Drogheda's defeat in Bray.
St Pat's lead the table by eight points although second-place Bohemians do have a game in hand.
Derry are a further point behind Bohs having played a game more than the Dublin outfit.
Only two points separate Derry and seventh-place Sligo Rovers.
