Glentoran's fighting spirit pleased manager Alan McDonald
Glentoran boss Alan McDonald and his Derry City counterpart Stephen Kenny were both pleased after the 1-1 Setanta Cup draw at the Oval on Tuesday night.
City dominated and went ahead through Conor Sammon's penalty before Colin Nixon levelled for the Belfast side.
"Derry were slick and quick and it was a hard night for us so I'm extremely pleased with a point," said McDonald.
Kenny said: "I don't know how we didn't win but we played terrifically well and I'm delighted with our performance."
"We dominated but Glens keeper Elliott Morris was unbelievable, pulling off some great saves."
McDonald admitted his side were outplayed but he was impressed by the attitude of his players.
"Derry were excellent but I'm overjoyed that we didn't let our heads go down.
"We got an equaliser and thankfully held on for a point - we can leave the Setanta Cup until next season but it seems to be an open group."
Glentoran are at the bottom of Group Two but lie just four points behind leaders Linfield.
