Glentoran and Derry City played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in the Setanta Sports Cup at the Oval on Tuesday.
Conor Sammon was denied by Elliott Morris, had an effort blocked and fired over while Gerard Doherty saved from Michael Halliday and Gary Hamilton.
Sammon scored the opener with a penalty after Jamie McGovern brought down Niall McGinn six minutes after the interval.
Substitute Colin Nixon equalised when he lifted the ball over Doherty and into the net on 71 minutes.
Halliday's first-half chance came from a header while Hamilton's shot also tested the goalkeeper.
Gareth McGlynn went close late on for Derry, with a 25-yard effort which rebounded off the post.
The Candystripes now have four points from their three games, while Glentoran have two.
