Linfield celebrate Jamie Mulgrew's winner at Windsor Park |
Glenn Ferguson scored his 499th career goal as champions Linfield survived a scare against struggling Glenavon. The Blues took the lead on 24 minutes when Michael Gault put Peter Thompson through for his 16th of the season.
Ferguson scored a 41st-minute penalty after a hand-ball by Jonny Cowan but Cowan made amends by scoring for the visitors in first half stoppage-time.
David Bracken equalised with a penalty after a handling offence but Jamie Mulgrew scored Linfield's winner.
Mulgrew netted with a fine effort after hesitancy by the Glenavon keeper Tuda Murphy.
It was a bitter blow for Colin Malone's Glenavon who have now lost their last six league games - all by a one-goal margin.
Linfield have a 100% home league record with seven straight victories.
