Newry City 0-3 Linfield
Tim Mouncey and Kevin Keegan challenge
Tim Mouncey and Kevin Keegan challenge for the ball
Linfield kept up their pursuit of Cliftonville by beating Newry 3-0.

Alan Mannus saved from Cullen Feeney and Kevin Keegan in the first half but William Murphy stabbed the ball home on 57 after a pass from Michael Gault.

Darren King was sent-off for bringing down substitute Oran Kearney inside the area on 68 and Glenn Ferguson scored from the resulting spot-kick.

Thompson made the points 100 per cent secure by scoring with six minutes remaining at the Showgrounds.

The Blues could have been awarded an early penalty for Paddy McLaughlin's challenge on Tim Mouncey, Mannus saved with his legs from Feeney and the goalkeeper then dived to deny Kevin Keegan.

Murphy opened the scoring by finding the bottom left-hand corner and his side then cruised to victory.
