Donegal Celtic dropped to second from bottom in the Carnegie Irish Premier League title after Portadown claimed victory at Suffolk Road. Paul McDonald fired wide for DC early on while home keeper Stephen Harbinson then saved well from Alan Teggart.
David Miskelly saved Paul McVeigh's 36th-minute penalty and Gary McCutcheon fired Portadown ahead on 43 minutes.
DC's James Lavery hit the Ports crossbar in the second half but the visitors just about deserved their win.
Jonny Topley missed a second-half chance for the Ports while home goalkeeper Harbinson gave his team some nervous moments as he struggled to deal with crosses.
Paul Bradley had a half-chance for an equaliser in the 77th minute but he nodded wide.
McCutcheon's goal came after he ran on to a long ball out of defence.
The result was Donegal Celtic's fourth successive defeat and Limavady's win means that Paddy Kelly's side drop to second bottom.
