Colin Malone saw his side claim a rare home win |
Conor Walsh gave Glenavon some home comfort when he blasted the ball past Lawrence McCormick for the winning goal seven minutes from time at Mourneview. Paul Walsh was the provider, supplying the cross for his namesake to score.
In the first half, Barry Meehan, John Douglas and Neal Gawley went close for Glenavon and Davy Patton and Darren Boyce had chances for the Bannsiders.
Boyce wasted a gilt-edged chance to equalise in the final minute, sweeping Darren Cassidy's cross off target.
Tuda Murphy denied Patton early in the game and the striker then hit the post before half-time for the goal-starved visitors.
