Mark Farren went close for Derry early in the league game
An own goal gifted Derry the three points in Friday night's Eircom Premier Division game at the Brandywell.

City striker Mark Farren shot wide after two minutes of a dull first half.

Derry almost conceded an own goal after 25 minutes when the ball deflected off Barry Molloy's head and Pat Jennings was forced to make a good save.

William Gibson was guilty of the own goal in the 67th minute with his back header going over advancing keeper Barry Ryan and into the visitor's net.
