Pat McCourt was forced off with an injury in the second half |
Derry City stretched their unbeaten run but failed to close the five-point gap on the team directly above them in the Eircom League Premier Division. Sligo keeper Richard Brush denied City victory with saves from Pat McCourt, Mark Farren, Peter Hutton, Sean Hargan and Kevin McHugh.
Rovers almost stole the points with four minutes left when Keith Foy hit the woodwork from a free-kick.
McCourt and fellow midfielder Sammy Morrow both came off with injuries.
Derry remain in seventh place with Sligo still in sixth.
The Candystripes had beaten Sligo 4-1 at home in John Robertson's first match in charge in July.
