Eddie Patterson was delighted with his team's second-half display |
Cliftonville manager Eddie Patterson praised his players after the 2-1 win over Lisburn Distillery in Tuesday night's Co Antrim Shield final. Mark Holland's double gave the Reds a comeback triumph at the Oval.
"I'm very proud of the 16 or 17 boys for the effort they have put in throughout the season - I'm absolutely delighted for them," said Patterson.
"Distillery were excellent in the first half but I think we deserved it because of our performance in the second half."
Paul Muir's superb free-kick put the Whites ahead before Holland's struck with a free-kick and penalty.
"Distillery were in our faces in the first half and didn't give us a chance to settle," added Patterson.
"We didn't play our usual game - they adopted the pressure football type of game that we would usually play.
"We spoke about that at half-time. We asked the boys to change their game, their attitude - I thought we were too complacent in the first half.
"We came out in the second half and the first challenge in the first 10 to 15 seconds told a tale. We knew the lads' tails we up and knew we were going to go for it.
"I'm just delighted I have won something with Cliftonville, that has always been my aim."
