Portadown kept up their recent run of good form with this win over derby rivals Glenavon at Shamrock Park. Henry McStay scored on five minutes with a close range header from an inswinging corner by Peter Kennedy.
Gary McCutcheon was denied early on but turned and shot home from eight yards after Kennedy's free-kick was not cleared by the visitors on 28 minutes.
Ross Black pulled one back for the Lurgan Blues with a superb curling free-kick after 37 minutes.
Nathan McConnell had the best of the first half chances for Glenavon.
The Ports dominated the second half and had several chances to add to their tally.
Allen Smart saw his header turned onto the bar by Paul Rice and Marc McCann fired wide.
