Glenavon 2-4 Linfield
Peter Thompson
Peter Thompson celebrates scoring his first goal
Linfield twice came from behind to move into second place in the league table.

Neal Gawley hammered in the opener on 15 but Glenn Ferguson shot home over the head of Paul Rice to equalise three minutes after the break.

Marty Hunter slotted home a penalty on 73 after Noel Bailie brought down Gawley but Peter Thompson turned and slotted past Rice to level after 76.

Thompson headed in after 78 and Mark Dickson stroked the ball into the bottom of the net on 86 for 4-2.

Rice saved easily from Gault early on, Ferguson missed a gaping chance and Davy Hawthorne had an opportunity for the Lurgan Blues.

Gawley found the bottom corner of the net for the opener and Thompson slipped when he had a chance to level.

Nathan McConnell shot at Alan Mannus in the second period and at the other end Tim Mouncey rose well but could not keep his header down.

After scoring the equaliser, Ferguson was just off target with a free-kick and Rice saved from Thompson.

Hunter and Thompson found the net and Thompson got his side's third after Dickson had his shot blocked and then saw his second effort come off the crossbar.

Dickson grabbed the fourth when one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
