Linfield 2-0 Newry City
Peter Thompson
Peter Thompson was the hero for Linfield in the league encounter
Peter Thompson bagged a brace after coming off the bench to give the Blues the three points at Windsor Park.

Linfield pair Paul McAreavey and Stephen Douglas both hit the crossbar in the first half while City keeper Andy Coleman denied Mark Dickson.

A poor 63rd minute clearance from Coleman went straight to Thompson, who chipped the ball back into the net.

Thompson's close-range header made it 2-0 six minutes later while Coleman denied Glenn Ferguson late on.
