Glenn Ferguson scored but also missed a penalty |
Linfield lost ground in the title race as Coleraine battled back from two down to claim a draw at Ballycastle Road. Glenn Ferguson missed an early penalty but quickly had the Blues ahead with a glancing header and then Mark Dickson nodded the second on 21 minutes.
Seven minutes before half-time David Patton headed in for Coleraine from Stewart Clanachan's sweeping cross.
Then Damien Whitehead's well-directed header from skipper Tommy McCallion's corner earned the draw.
In the 90th minute Linfield went close to snatching victory when Ferguson's header struck the bar.
Just before that Coleraine keeper Davy O'Hare made two saves from Blues substitute Peter Thompson, the second an excellent low one-handed stop.
The penalty miss came after just three minutes when Ferguson rolled the ball wide after he had been fouled by home defender Kyle McVey.
