Gavin Peers of Sligo Rovers in action against Pat McCourt |
Derry City will meet Sligo Rovers in a replay on Tuesday night to decide who will meet St Patrick's Athletic in the FAI Carlsberg Cup final. The Candystripes had chances to win Sunday's semi-final at the Showgrounds but came up against an in-form John O'Hara in the Sligo goal.
Derry striker Mark Farren did get past O'Hara early in the second half but Michael McNamara blocked on the line.
Tuesday's replay at the Brandywell kicks-off at 2100GMT.
Keeper O'Hara was named man of the match for keeping Derry at bay.
He denied Pat McCourt late in the first half after the former Rochdale player cut in and drove a right-foot shot towards goal.
In the second half O'Hara made a superb stop from Peter Hutton's far post header following a Gareth McGlynn free-kick.
He then palmed away a dipping shot from Barry Molloy.
In stoppage-time Derry keeper David Forde was called on to thwart Sligo's Darren Manseram.
"I do not know how we did not score but it was a terrific match," said Derry manager Stephen Kenny.
"Our players were excellent. They are showing no signs of fatigue at all despite all the matches were are playing.
"We just could not get that elusive goal but it should be another great night at the Brandywell on Tuesday."
