Derry City's Barry Molloy faces a challenge from Conor Kenna of UCD |
Treble-chasing Derry City secured their place in the semi-finals of the FAI Carlsberg Cup thanks to two second-half goals against UCD at the Brandywell. With six changes from the side which started against PSG on Thursday, Derry took the lead through a 67th-minute penalty by Mark Farren.
The spot-kick had been awarded for a foul on Killian Brennan by Derek Doyle.
A minute later it was 2-0 as UCD keeper Darren Quigley let a shot from Kevin McHugh go straight through.
McHugh missed a great chance to make it three in stoppage-time but Derry's progress was never in doubt.
UCD's best opportunity fell to Conan Byrne but he was denied by a superb save by City keeper David Forde.
