 Chris Scannell's first-half shot came off a post |
Portadown picked up their first point of the campaign as their trip to Solitude ended without a goal. Eddie Patterson's Reds came closest to breaking the deadlock on 30 minutes when Chris Scannell's low shot struck the base of the near post.
The ball then bounced off Ports keeper Kevin Pressman and had to be cleared off the line by defender Henry McStay.
For Portadown, former international Peter Kennedy had a shot saved and Marc McCann fired an effort just over.
"We had some good chances and could have been two or three up at half-time," said Cliftonville boss Patterson.
"But it was a pretty even second half and a draw was a fair result.
"We had a great result at Linfield last week and are happy to have four points after two difficult fixtures."
