Paul McVeigh expects to make a quick return from injury |
Donegal Celtic striker Paul McVeigh is confident of being fit for his club's debut in senior football despite an injury setback in a pre-season game. The highly-rated 29-year-old damaged a knee in a friendly against Comber Rec.
"It is a medial ligament injury. The physio said I will be out for two or three weeks so I should be OK for the opener against Newry," said McVeigh.
"I cannot wait for the start of the season - west Belfast has been crying out for senior football."
He added: "It will be good for the Irish League was well.
"I have won every medal going in intermediate football. It is my dream to win something in the senior game, or to get to a big cup final.
"I just hope the people of west Belfast will come out and support us.
"Our aim for this season has to be just to stay in the Premier League."
