Colin Malone enjoyed a successful reign at Armagh City |
Armagh City say they will appoint a new manager to replace Colin Malone "sooner rather than later". Malone returned to Glenavon as their new boss on Tuesday after spending over three years at Holm Park.
Armagh describe Malone's departure as "amicable" and they have put former Port Vale striker Gary McKinstry in charge until the post is filled.
"A number of people have already expressed an interest in the job," said City chairman Nigel Cooke.
He added: "We are very sorry to lose Colin. He has given us three-and-a-half good years, successful years.
"When he took over we were virtually facing relegation in the First Division, but he turned things around and we narrowly missed out on promotion the next season before going on to win the First Division, undefeated.
"He has taken us into the top flight and we aim to stay there.
"Colin has chosen his home town club to continue his managerial career and we wish him well.
"We will consider all expressions of interest and will make an appointment sooner rather than later."
