Verner had signed a new one-year deal |
Glenavon striker Marty Verner says he has quit the Mourneview Park club just weeks after signing a one-year deal. Verner has become embroiled in a contract dispute with the club and is known to be unhappy about the dismissal of former boss Jimmy Brown.
The former Bangor frontman was top scorer for the Lurgan Blues last season and netted the crucial goal against Limavady which secured senior status.
A number of Premier League clubs are likely to be vying for his services.
Verner was also voted Harp Player of the Month for April.
"It is very annoying and frustrating the way these events have unfolded but my future now lies elsewhere and Glenavon know that.
My mind is made up and I am leaving," Verner told the Ireland's Saturday Night.
