Colin Nixon was injured after 24 minutes of the cup final |
Colin Nixon is hopeful that he will be fit for the club's Uefa Cup preliminary round games after receiving encouraging news from his doctor last week. The Glentoran defender had seemed likely to miss the July fixtures after suffering a fractured bone in his back in the Irish Cup final in May.
However medics have given him the all-clear to step up his training.
"Things are looking a lot better but I have to wait and see how the back responds to training," said Nixon.
"I am aiming to play in both legs of the Uefa Cup tie," he told the Ireland's Saturday Night.
The draw for the competition is to be made on Friday 23 June.
