Roy Walker was offered the chance to succeed Roy Coyle |
Roy Walker has turned down the chance to take over the managerial reins at Glentoran, BBC Sport can reveal. "I thought long and hard about taking the job, but I did not want to short-change Glentoran," said Walker.
"I was very flattered to be offered the job. It's without doubt one of the biggest jobs in football.
"The chairman and directors of the club have a real vision for the future. But I couldn't personally find the peace that would allow me to be part of it."
The former Crusaders boss was approached by Glentoran officials last week-end following Roy Coyle's decision to st ep down.
Walker has a busy business life and is also heavily involved in church ministry.
"I just feel with my own commitments I would not be in a position to give the time the job deserves, " said Walker.
"I would like to thank the Glentoran board in the way they conducted themselves throughout."
